As we look to evolve our fair year after year, we want to continually develop SOFA programming and push ourselves to provide a thought provoking fair.  As a result SOFA is launching a theme this year, Women in the Arts. You will see this theme woven throughout the fair in the artists we highlight, unique programming we are developing and dynamic Special Exhibits. One of these highlights is The Female Design Council, who will be curating a Special Exhibit and will be hosting a panel discussion. Local Chicago designer Emily Mackie from Inspired Interiors is working with a group of women artists on commissioned pieces to be displayed at the fair. Their “Still Counting” Special Exhibit will showcase the moments and milestones that make up a movement. 21 female artists will create personal, powerful works provoked by the number of years it has taken to receive equal rights in a list of categories essential to living in true gender equality.
