Jackie Koo AIA, IIDA, LEED AP is Founder and Principal of KOO, an Architecture, Interior Design and Planning firm based in Chicago.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Chicago, Jackie sought to further her interest in aesthetics, and went on to earn her Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She started her career at Richard Meier and Partners in New York and founded KOO in 2005 after working for 15 years in corporate firms.
Best known for theWit Hotel, KOO crafts buildings and interior environments with a particular focus on art and materiality to tell a visual narrative and create a unique identity for each project. KOO’s portfolio includes hospitality, residential and institutional project types.
In addition to her architectural practice, Jackie has taught advanced design studios at the Illinois Institute of Technology and is an accomplished lecturer. She is a former board member of the AIA Chicago and the President’s Advisory Council of Columbia College, and is currently a member of the Chicago Network as well as the Economics Club of Chicago.
