Christopher G. Kennedy
Christopher G. Kennedy is Chairman of Joseph P. Kennedy Enterprises, which is the investment firm of the Kennedy family. As chairman, Chris is responsible for the billion-dollar development of the Kennedy family's real estate holdings in Chicago known as Wolf Point.
Chris is also a member of the Board of Directors of Ariel Investments Mutual Fund, Interface, and Knoll Furniture. He is the Chairman and Founder of Top Box Foods, a Chicago-based not-for-profit anti-hunger social business. Chris is the Co-Chair of the Cook County Sustainability Advisory Council, a member of Mayor Emanuel’s Green Ribbon Committee, and Treasurer of the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation
Chris is the former President of Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. (MMPI). He was named President of MMPI in 2001 and served in that role for the final ten years of his 25-year career with the company. MMPI manages the world-famous Merchandise Mart along with design centers and tradeshow facilities across North America. Chris is Chairman Emeritus of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, former Chairman of the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the University of Illinois.
Chris earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Boston College and a master’s of management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management of Northwestern University. He is the son of Robert and Ethel Kennedy and is the eighth of their eleven children. He and his wife, Sheila Berner Kennedy, have four children and reside in suburban Chicago.
