In a March 2012 residency, three young artists at the Toledo Museum of Art rebuilt a small glass furnace modeled after the one Harvey Littleton and Dominick Labino designed 50 years earlier thereby launching the Studio Glass Movement.  This film documents the week-long residency that honors the past and celebrates the future of creative experimentation in glass. Screenings will be followed by Q&A with Robert Minkoff, Managing Trustee of the Robert M. Minkoff Foundation; Andrew Page, Director, Robert M. Minkoff Foundation; and two artists from the residency/film: Kim Harty, represented by UrbanGlass, Brooklyn and Amber Cowan, represented by Heller Gallery, NY.

Ursula Ilse-Neuman, Curator of Jewelry at MAD, and internationally recognized authority on contemporary jewelry, previews the first museum exhibition to explore the union of art jewelry and photography.  Features will include renowned art jewelers whose cutting edge inclusions of photography provide highly imaginative approaches to portraiture, the human body, and the subjectivity of memory.  The range of inventiveness displayed by these creations is astonishing in both concept and technique.  Contextual examples of 19th century photo-jewelry will also be featured.

The Art Fair Company presents the 20th annual SOFA CHICAGO 2013 at Navy Pier's Festival Hall (600 E. Grand Avenue, Chicago, Ill. 60611) Nov. 1 - 3, with the Opening Night Preview Thursday, Oct. 31.
