SOFA CHICAGO 2007 LECTURE SERIES:

SOFA CHICAGO’s Lecture Series features internationally renowned curators, critics, scholars and artists from Australia, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Germany, Japan, Palestine, the Netherlands, New Zealand, United States and United Kingdom in 31 presentations. The SOFA Lecture Series is widely considered the largest and most distinctive forum at an art fair dedicated to exploring both the works on display and worldwide trends in today’s art scene. I first met Robi Damelin in Israel in 2006 when Anne Meszko, Director of Advertising/Educational Programming, and I were on a collectors tour organized by the Association of Israel’s Decorative Arts (AIDA). Damelin is a stunningly articulate woman who lost her son, David, to a Palestinian sniper in 2002, and who after her tragic loss joined the Parents Circle—Families Forum (PCFF), a grassroots organization of bereaved Israelis and Palestinians dedicated to reconciliation, all of whom have lost immediate loved ones in the violence of the region.
