A survey of the Daphne Farago Collection of studio jewelry, recently given to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; with an accompanying discussion of its historic and artistic significance. Weaving Tapestries into Buildings 11:15 am- 12:15 pm

Helena Hernmarck’s tapestry designs are derived from the local environment, often encapsulating the great outdoors on a monumental scale. Her commissions include two tapestries for the 1967 World's Fair in Montreal; three for the Cunard Lines's QE2; Skidmore, Owings & Merrill's Weyerhaeuser headquarters in Tacoma, Washington; and four seasonally rotating tapestries in the lobby of the Time Warner Center apartments in New York. Hernmarck is represented by browngrotta arts.

Akio Takamori talks about the development of his figurative clay sculpture from 1996 to the present; revisiting projects, exhibitions and tracing his inspiration. His work is in the collections of Carnegie Institute Art Museum, Pittsburgh; Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City; The Museum of Contemporary Ceramic Art, Shigaraki, Japan; Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Providence; Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Adam Paxon discusses the development of colour and form in his recent acrylic pieces, journeying through the surface into the interior of the material of dreams. Paxon is the UK's Jerwood Applied Arts: Jewellery prize-winner of 2007; Herbert Hoffman Prize Winner 2002; and is in the collections of the Middlesbrough Institute for Modern Art, London; National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh; International Museum of Applied Arts, Turin, Italy; and the Montreal Museum of Decorative Arts. Paxon is represented by Adrian Sassoon.

Second Lives: Remixing the Ordinary 3 pm – 4 pm
Preview the Museum of Arts & Design’s inaugural show at their new museum:  works and installations by 40 established and emerging artists from five continents, created from everyday manufactured objects originally made for another functional purpose. The exhibition will illuminate issues of materials and process, global consumerism, cultural and personal identity, and current value systems.
