| Yoichi
Ohira
April 29 —
June 18, 2004 |
Japanese
born Yoichi Ohira has been living and working in Venice for
more than twenty-five years. His beautiful and unique vessels
are a blend of Japanese aesthetics with traditional Italian
glass techniques. The works beg to be held and range in height
from 4 to 12 inches. Ohira's work is technically challenging.
His bold use of contrasting colored powders with glass canes
captures the magical quality of light and the reflection of
the lagoons and the canals of Venice.

Michael
Glancy
April 29 —
June 18, 2004 |
Widely
recognized as an innovator in the field of studio glass, this
exhibition will feature twenty-five pieces. Glancy is married
to the vessel form, as it provides a historical link between
his work in glass and all that precedes it. However, by combining
that classic form with electro-forming and his own, very specific,
mode of presentation – that of a base with shadows or
speaks to the standing vase – Glancy defines himself a
highly original, forward thinking artist.
